In a startling turn of events, Donald Trump Jr.’s X account became the target of a hacker’s intrusion, resulting in a false announcement of his father’s death and a barrage of controversial posts that sent shockwaves through social media.
The intrusion unfolded with a series of now-deleted posts on the account, which boasts a substantial following of 10 million users. In these posts, the hacker claimed that Donald Trump Sr., the former President of the United States, had passed away. Notably, the posts also contained a racial slur directed at President Joe Biden.
The offensive messages lingered on the page for less than an hour before being promptly removed. The Trump Organization swiftly responded, confirming that the account had indeed fallen victim to a hacking incident.
One of the hoax posts announced, “I’m sad to announce, my father Donald Trump has passed away. I will be running for president in 2024.” This false claim about the former president’s demise undoubtedly caused a considerable stir among followers.
Furthermore, the hacker did not stop at the false death announcement. Additional posts ventured into controversial and inappropriate territory. One post ominously stated that North Korea was “about to get smoked.” Another alluded to “some interesting messages” with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a topic that has garnered significant public attention and scrutiny.
The hacker’s posts also mentioned Richard Heart, a cryptocurrency influencer currently facing fraud charges by the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as YouTuber Logan Paul. The motives behind these mentions remain unclear.
The onslaught of misleading and inappropriate content commenced after 08:00 ET (12:00 GMT) and continued until the posts were removed from the compromised account.

While this intrusion unfolded, Donald Trump Sr. posted an unrelated message on his Truth Social account, indicating that he was unaware of the incident involving his son’s X account. Andrew Surabian, a spokesman for Donald Trump Jr., confirmed the hack on X and emphasized the falseness of the posts, stating, “Don’s account has been hacked. Obviously not true.”
Despite the hacking incident, Donald Trump Jr. has resumed using X, formerly known as Twitter. Interestingly, he has not explicitly addressed the breach, but he did “like” a tweet acknowledging that he had been hacked.
At the time of reporting, X has not provided an official statement on the incident. The company’s press email yielded an automatic reply stating that they were currently busy.
It’s worth noting that Truth Social, the social media platform founded by former President Donald Trump after his X account was suspended in 2021, has been in operation. The suspension was a result of concerns about the potential incitement of violence. However, his X account was reinstated in November of the same year.
In a significant development, Elon Musk took control of Twitter in October 2022 in a monumental $44 billion (£37 billion) deal and subsequently rebranded the platform as X.
The hacking of Donald Trump Jr.’s X account serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of high-profile social media profiles and the potential for misinformation to spread rapidly in the digital age.
